Menopause is not a disease, it is a natural and normal event that all women will go through.

Menopause marks the end of fertility and it is confirmed when a woman hasn’t had her period for 12 consecutive months. Menopause can happen between ages 40 and 58, and in North America the average age is 51. Physical, cognitive, and emotional changes, due to estrogen fluctuations and decline, begin years before the last period. This phase is called perimenopause, or menopause transition, it can commence in the late 30s or early 40s, and it may last for 4 to 8 years. After menopause, following the anniversary of the last menstrual period, women are in postmenopause.
