Food Is Information For Your Body & Brain
March 29, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
FREE!
Food is Information for Your Body & Brain. The hormonal changes of midlife can cause cravings, mood swings, and anxiety and worry; affect your weight; and change your body’s shape. You know what you should be eating for good health, optimal weight, and a healthy immune system. But sometimes it’s easier said than done…
Food isn’t just about the number on a scale or a dress size.
Join me, Teresa Isabel, pharmacist and NAMS Certified Menopause Practitioner and the host of this talk, and my guest speaker, Karen Porter, a Holistic Nutritionist and Wellness Coach, and find out how it’s so much more than that!
The food you eat affects your physical & mental health. But you can transform that by making healthy choices & she’ll show you how!
- Learn how to look and feel your best
- Improve how you feel as you move through menopause
- Make changes now based on how good you want to feel 10 years from now!
- Strengthen your body & mind
I fell in love with Karen’s recipes when I had to change my diet due to food sensitivities and go grain- and dairy-free. And I think you will fall in love with them too! Including the amazing chocolate mousse that’s healthy to eat as often as you desire!

Karen Porter’s Bio
While navigating a career in the financial industry, and outwardly appearing fine, for almost 30 years Karen inwardly battled IBS, anxiety and debilitating bouts of depression that left her hospitalized and grasping for her life. Forced to re-evaluate everything and take her health into her own hands, Karen started looking into alternative healing methods to help her heal where the traditional medical approach had failed.
After obtaining certification as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, as well as training in mindfulness coaching and stress management, Karen was finally able to find the much needed answers to gain control of her physical and mental health, and learn the tools to feel healthy, happy, focused, and radiant! Her health, and consequently her life, entirely shifted and she felt compelled to help as many women as possible.
Today, as a Holistic Nutritionist and Wellness Coach, Karen is passionate about working with women over 45, to show them how to fuel their body and brain to feel their most radiant, fired up selves and be ready to show up in the world with more energy, feeling great in their bodies, and having better mental focus and resiliency to handle everything that life throws at them.
Karen shows women “hands on” tools for creating magic in the kitchen to help them create and crave delicious healthy food. She also works to help women understand their “food story”, essentially their self-talk around food and their bodies, so they can reframe those stories to help make healthy changes easier.
Karen will tell us how Food is Information for Your Body & Brain.

Teresa Isabel Dias
I am a registered pharmacist with over 25 years of professional experience in community pharmacy and drug information in Toronto.
When I was in my late 40s my son asked me if I was bipolar. I wasn’t, but the question made me look for answers to explain my behaviour. I had mood swings, was irritable, impatient, angry, and I was yelling at my kids (we always take it out on our loved ones). I found some answers and learned that I was in perimenopause.
I realized that if I, a healthcare professional, wasn’t aware of the physical, cognitive, and emotional changes of the menopause transition then there must be a lot of other women who don’t know either. I decided I wanted to help other women understand and navigate the change, so I became a NAMS* Certified Menopause Practitioner.
I founded MenopausED, a boutique-style virtual women’s health practice, specialized in menopause, to help women navigate the change so their life, relationships, and work can thrive!
I have two grown sons and I’m addicted to swimming and nature!
