Food and Mood - The gut-brain connection

Women are more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease. What you eat or don’t eat, and your lifestyle, affect your brain health and cognition. Join me and my guest speaker, Gillian Bogden, to learn all about Food and Mood – The gut-brain connection.

Many of us know the role that food can play when it comes to stress, anxiety, and depression, but aren’t necessarily familiar with why and how this happens.

Alzheimer’s disease—which affects women twice as often as it affects men—is on the rise.  It may start in our brains 30-50 years before we see any symptoms, and food is one of the main culprits.

Join me, Teresa Isabel Dias, founder of MenopausED, and my guest speaker Gillian Bogden, to learn how food and lifestyle literally lay the foundation for a healthy brain, as well as how we could potentially stop Alzheimer’s in its tracks.

My Guest Speaker will be Gillian Bogden. As a holistic nutritionist, health coach, graduate of George Brown’s Culinary Arts Program, and founder of gb wellness, Gillian leverages food and lifestyle to redefine healthy aging.

Having battled her own food issues for years, and influenced by her work with Jack.org, a national mental health organization for youth in Canada, and The Stop, a Toronto-based food community centre, Gillian realized she could make a profound difference in people’s lives through food.

These experiences led her to the Institute of Holistic Nutrition, where she focused her studies on the research behind how food and lifestyle affect mental well-being, chronic illnesses, energy levels, and overall health.

Gillian develops targeted one-on-one nutritional strategies for women in their prime (40’s, 50’s and 60’s), looking to take their health to the next level. Her work has recently expanded to include Wellness at Work corporate presentations and gb wellness Walk & Talk.

When not with clients, you will find Gillian either in her kitchen, walking the Toronto ravines, or enjoying a meal with family and friends.

This is an ONLINE event via Zoom. Upon registration you will receive by email a Zoom link to join us. A reminder with the Zoom link will also be emailed to you on the day of the event.
